Same applies to the Ninja SS351 but it has more variable speed settings, 7 more than the BN801, to be exact. And it features a higher count of automatic blending pre-sets. So it can do more at the touch of a button – blend smoothies, crush ice, power blend protein shakes, extract nutrient-dense drinks, mix the dough, and make spreads and purees quickly.

Ninja BN801 vs SS351: Differences

The Ninja SS351 wins 2 – 1 against the Ninja BN801. Both are easier to clean but the SS351 gives more control because it has a higher number of manual and automatic features than the BN801.

1. Blending Performance

The Winner: Ninja BN801

+Number of Containers

The Ninja BN801 has one more blending jar than the SS351. The former features 4 containers – 64 ounces, 72 ounces, and 2 x 24 ounces. The latter, on the other hand, features 3 containers – 72 ounces, 24 ounces, and 14 ounces.

While the SS351’s blending capacity is smaller than the BN801 which is perfect for solo users. The BN801 gets the upper hand as it offers 2 containers of the same size (24 ounce).

The smallest, 14-ounce container of the SS351 is a mixing bowl with a lid. And the smallest, 24-ounce container of the BN801 are blending cups with to-go lids.

The BN801 does not include a mixing bowl; conversely, the SS351 has only a single 24-ounce blending cup with a to-go lid.

But the BN801 features a precision processor bowl of 64 ounces while the SS351 does not have. It features a 72-ounce pitcher. The food processor bowl is not included in the SS351. But the 72-ounce pitcher of the SS351 also does the job of food processing and power blending.

To sum up: the Ninja BN801 features a standard blending pitcher (72 ounce), blending cups (24 ounces), and a processor bowl (64 ounces). The Ninja SS351 features a standard blending pitcher (72 ounce), a blending cup (24 ounces), and a blending bowl (14 ounces).

2. Controls/Settings

The Winner: Ninja SS351

Ninja SS351 Controls

+Variable Speed Controls

Unlike the Ninja BN801, which features manual speed control but only up to 4 settings, the SS351 gives you the option of select from 11 varied speeds. Isn’t that amazing?

This includes chopping, blending, pulsing, processing, power blending, crushing, mixing, extracting, and lots more. The 11 speeds offer more flexibility that you won’t find in the BN801 with 4 manual speeds.

+Automatic Blending Programs

Again, the SS351 offers more Auto-iQ programs to its users than the BN801. The difference however is not as grave as the manual controls. But the Ninja BN801 features 5 program settings while the SS351 features 6 Auto-iQ programs for one-touch blending.

The preset that’s missing in the BN801 is the Spread blending mode for sauces and spreads. The rest, nutrient extraction, smoothie, chop, dough, and crush (bowl in SS351) are the same.

So when you’re planning to make mayonnaise or a garlic dip or a cheesy dip, know that the SS351 features an automatic blending mode for that very purpose. You can, however, get the same consistency and texture from the BN801 but after finding the right speed for the recipe. The BN801 does not do it automatically like the SS351.

3. Utilities

The Winner: Ninja SS351

Ninja SS351 Utilities
Ninja SS351 Utilities

The SS351 has more utilities in its package than the BN801.

In the box, you will find different assembly parts for each blade, a cleaning brush, and a recipe book for more accessibility. The BN801 offers a user manual and storage lids.

This is excluding the other important parts of the blender including the motor base, blades, and containers.

As you can see, the Ninja BN801 does not have a recipe book and a cleaning brush and blade assembly like the SS351.

Ninja BN801 vs SS351: Similarities

1. Motor

The motor wattage on both the Ninja BN801 vs SS351 is 1,400 peak watts. This means powerful and fast performance at the touch of a button with no lagging. Both blenders are also equipped with a cooling fan to protect them from overheating. And the motor base is well-built and sturdy to prevent wobbling or skidding.

Now lots of users have complained about the Ninja BN801 and SS351 being slightly noisy. I wouldn’t worry about this because it’s a blender and food processor, so some noise is expected.

The noise will not interrupt the performance of the high-powered motor or the fast-spinning blades. So you have nothing to worry about.

2. Blades

Ninja SS351 Blades
Ninja SS351 Blades

The number of blades on both blenders is the same. They are also dishwasher-safe and removable for quick rinsing.

The Ninja BN801 features a total crushing blade, a pro extractor blade, a chopping blade, and a dough blade. The SS351 features a hybrid edge blade, total crushing blade, chopping blade, and dough blade.

The ‘Hybrid’ edge blade of the SS351 performs the action of an extractor blade and processor blade.

With that said, both blenders perform the same blade mechanisms required for making versatile recipes.

The blade assembly is simple and fast. And the blade type is sharp so that it blends through the thickest ingredient in under a minute.

Before we move on to the next feature, I would like to talk about a drawback to both blenders which is that they do not support hot-soup blending. So if you plan on making soups, these blenders are not fit for that. But they will, however, crush the vegetables needed for soup.

3. Portability

It’s obvious that storage is an important consideration when talking about such mega kitchen processors. Thankfully, both the Ninja BN801 vs SS351 is not very heavy or bulky to maintain. They weigh almost the same – 8.8 lbs and 8.2 lbs respectively. And they have similar dimensions which makes them very user-friendly and convenient to use.

Their cord lengths, though short (3 feet), are the same as well. And one minor drawback to the Ninja SS351 is that it does not feature a store-away compartment for the cord but the does.
