While the Vitamix A3500 vs Blendtec 725 are great blenders that can do anything from blending smoothies, making hot soup, crushing ice, etc. The Blendtec 725 is a superior blender with more customizable features. While the Vitamix A3500 offers built-in wireless connectivity that is absent in the Blendtec.

The Blendtec 725 is more powerful with a 3.8 HP motor which is more than most blenders out there, including Vitamix A3500’s 2.2 HP motor. It also includes 100 variable speeds and 8 blending programs.

The Vitamix A3500 features the standard 10 variable speed range with 5 blending programs plus the Vitamix app. It gives you more programmability than what you can see on its touchscreen control panel – which is very impressive.

Vitamix A3500 vs Blendtec 725: Differences

The Blendtec 725 wins 3 – 1 against the Vitamix A3500 because it has more variable speeds and pre-programmed blending modes. It’s also a better pick for someone who demands more flexibility in blending capacities.

1. Blending Performance

The Winner: Blendtec 725

+Motor Performance

The Blendtec features a large 90-ounce blender jar so it’s a powerful and spacious blender to use. The same can be said of its motor performance because it features a 3.8 HP motor.

This is a huge upgrade from the A3500 which features a 2.2 HP with a 64-ounce blender jar. Though the Vitamix is powerful on its own but it pales in comparison to the Blendtec which has more power, advanced programmability for daily blending.

2. Controls / Settings

The Winner: Blendtec 725

+Blender Capacity

The size adjustability of the Blendtec is more customizable than the Vitamix A3500. The Blendtec is supportive of smaller servings and much larger ones too – 36 to 90 ounces. You can put as little as one cup of ingredients and it’ll blend everything smoothly. And you can put as much as 4 cups or higher and achieve the same results.

The Vitamix A3500, on the other hand, features a 64-ounce jar. Its maximum capacity is 2 liters. But you can adjust it down to half – that is 1 liter – and it’ll blend everything smoothly. Below that mark, however, it won’t suffice.

This is where the self-detect technology comes in. With this feature, you can use smaller blending jars of Vitamix Ascent on the A3500. But it will cost you more because you have to buy the blender jar separately.

I prefer the built-in versatility on the Blendtec 725. It also features the self-detect technology for other differently-sized Blendtec jars. But the size adjustability on the current blender is good enough for versatile use.

+Speed

Once you’ve had a blender, speed control is a must because it lets you adjust the texture for a wide variety of recipes. The difference between the Vitamix A3500 vs Blendtec 725 is quite immense when it comes to their speed settings.

The Blendtec features a touch slider that has up to 100 variable speeds for you to pick from. And the Vitamix features a touchscreen dial that has up to 10 variable speeds.

100 versus 10 speeds- that’s a huge jump, right?

This not only enhances the quality of performance of the Blendtec 725. But it also gives you more flexibility in case you like to drink smoothies that are less thick and make butter that is not as creamy as recipes are.

100 speeds, for a beginner, can seem confusing at first. But it offers incredible stability over any recipe you can think of.

The Blendtec is also very powerful with more pre-programmed functions which work in favor. It takes the guesswork away and you can add as many ingredients as you want without worrying about how you’re going to blend it.

The 10 variable speeds of the Vitamix are fast and accurate. No doubt about that. It’s more direct to navigate than the Blendtec which is its own advantage when you want a simple and quick blender to use.

+Pre-Programmed Settings

The Blendtec 725 features 8 program settings which are 3 more than what the Vitamix A3500 offers. It has 5 program settings for a smoothie, hot soup, dips & spreads, frozen desserts, and self-cleaning.

The 8 program options of the Blendtec are for smoothies, cocktails, shakes, soups, crushed ice, juices, ice cream, mixer-blender, and self-cleaning.

The Vitamix does not have an automated button for crushed ice, shakes, cocktails, juices, and mixer-blender. But you can still perform these functions by using the 10 variable speed dial. Only that will take you some time to figure out.

Combined with the power and variable speed control of the Blendtec, the higher program settings are very convenient and fast.

3. Cleaning / Maintenance

The Winner: Blendtec 725

+Size

The Vitamix A3500 measures 11 x 8 x 17 inches and weighs almost 15 pounds. So it’s fair to say that it’s a bit bulky and heavy-duty. This gives the Blendtec the upper hand because it weighs 11 pounds and measures 9.2 x 7 x 15.5 inches. It’s compact and lightweight.

This is even more compelling considering that the Blendtec features an adjustable capacity from 36 ounces up to 90 ounces. The Vitamix features a single 64-ounce jar. So you’d expect it to be less bulky than the Blendtec but it’s not.

I always look for blenders that are portable and compact. Because it gives me the option to use it on the counter and saves storage space. Whether I keep it on the counter itself or move it to a separate cabinet designated for the blender alone.

For narrow kitchens and tight corners, the Blendtec 725 is a fine choice.

4. Utilities

The Winner: Vitamix A3500

+Bluetooth

The one thing A3500 has that is absent in the Blendtec which truly elevates the performance of the Vitamix is the built-in wireless connectivity. With Vitamix, you can sync the blender to Vitamix’s app which you can download on your phone. The app consists of up to 17 blending programs and 500+ recipes.

With the app, you can also adjust the timer, speed, and program modes easily that is also on the control panel. The app is quite comfortable to use. It’s responsive and user-friendly.

The Vitamix app is also completely free. It’s easy to download and sync.

+Noise

Based on the motor performance of both the 2.2 HP motor of the Vitamix A3500 and the 3.8 HP motor of the Blendtec 725, the A3500 is quieter than Blendtec.

This can be a serious problem for someone living with a family. The last thing you want is to wake others up while you’re making a smoothie. Besides, you don’t want a headache yourself each time you use the blender. So buying the A3500 because it’s quieter makes more sense if you’re sensitive to noise.

+Warranty

The Vitamix A3500 is less expensive than the Blendtec. This is an obvious statement considering the fact that the A3500 features a slightly less programmable interface with fewer speeds, program settings, and blending capacity than the Blendtec.

But in one way does the A3500 surpass the Blendtec – warranty. It features a longer 10-year warranty while the Blendtec comes with an 8-year warranty.

To extend the warranty of the Blendtec 725 to 10 years, which is 2 years more than what it already offers, you will have to pay a little extra. But the 10 years warranty of the Vitamix is already included in its cost so you don’t have to spend extra.

Vitamix A3500 vs Blendtec 725: Similarities

1. Touchscreen Controls

Blendtec Touchscreen Controls
Blendtec Touchscreen Controls

Both blenders have touchscreen control panels for adjusting the speed, picking the blending mode, and other functions.

The touchscreen looks and feels sleek and modern for everyday use. It’s even easier to clean because it does not have dents that usually in kitchen appliances collect dust and are harder to wipe.

The touchscreen is smooth, flat, and polished – made of glass. The interface is also very responsive with no lag or delayed response.

2. Digital Timer

The digital timer allows you to control the length of the blending with automatic turn-off. So the blending will stop automatically after the timer is up. This encourages you to step away from the blender while it’s blending a complex recipe like hot soup.

Both machines include a programmable timer functionality.

3. Pulse Feature

Adding the final finishing touches to crushed ice, soup, chopped vegetables, or puree is necessary. And both blenders allow you to do that with the help of the Pulse feature.

You can pulse the blend for 1-2 seconds easily without having to use the variable speed. I use this a lot in my blender to make chunky ice cubes quickly and effectively – I just hold down on the pulse feature for 4-7 seconds. So it chops ice instead of turning it into a creamy blend.

The pulse feature is responsive in both the Vitamix A3500 vs Blendtec 725. A handy feature that not many high-powered blenders offer with variable speed controls and blending modes.

4. Dishwasher-Safe Parts

Blendtec Dishwasher-safe Parts
Blendtec Dishwasher-safe Parts

Both blenders come with easy-to-use and clean parts. This includes a self-cleaning feature that automatically rinses the inside of the jar, under the blades, and corners quickly after use.

The blender jar with lid and blades is also dishwasher-safe which means that you do not have to manually rinse the blades or jar after making a complicated recipe.

Imagine removing the remains of butter or chunky salsa from under the blades after blending. It takes time and requires extra effort. But thankfully, you don’t need to worry about this with either the Vitamix A3500 or the Blendtec 725.
