It seems as though both the Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender vs 5300 are fine choices for daily blending. The difference lies in their sizes as the Vitamix E310 is smaller than the Vitamix 5300.

When compared to commercial-grade blenders, the Vitamix blenders are quite popular and multi-functional. For starters, both come with 10 variable speed settings capable of crushing and blending soft and hard ingredients easily, within seconds.

The Vitamix E310 is the winner because it’s more space-friendly and compact to use. The container jar is 48 ounces with 3-inch blades making it easier to clean and maintain in the long run.

The 5300, on the other hand, is large. You need to prepare 2 cups of ingredients to blend at a time. Compared to the E310 which allows 1 cup of blending at a time which is comfortable and easy to handle.

Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender vs 5300: Differences

The E310 wins 3 – 2 against the 5300 because of its compact design, ease to clean and maintain blades and containers.

1. Blending Performance

The Winner: It’s A Tie!

+Blade Size

The blade size of the Vitamix E310 measures 3-inches with a 48-ounce container. Statistics show that the in the case of home blenders, small is better. It’s perfect for narrow kitchens. It’s easier to clean because of the compact size. And there’s less chance of food getting stuck underneath the 3-inch blades.

When you compare it to the 4-inch blades of the 5300 plus the 64-ounce container jar, this could get quite bulky. Not only is it bulky for narrow kitchens, but it’s also quite a large container that only allows 2 cups of ingredients to blend smoothly. No less than 2 cups.

In the case of the E310, you can blend 1 cup at a time – which is quite convenient for small servings. And even when you do want to increase the serving size, you can easily blend 1 cup at a time with consistent and smooth results.

Lots of customers are on the fence about using a larger blender for making smaller batches. The main reason is that when you want to blend 1 cup in a 64-ounce jar, it won’t blend as effectively as 2 cups.

So that’s your limitation when using a large container jar that you might not even need for your home.

+Power

The 5300 features a 2.2 HP motor which is powerful and consistent. The E310 features a 2.0 HP motor even though there are many other high-end blenders that come with a 2.2 HP motor for a 48-ounce blender.

So the power comparison, performance-wise, you can expect more efficacy, stability, and overall durability from the 5300 as it features a smooth 2.2 HP motor.

2. Controls / Settings

+Container Size

Coming back to convenience and ease of use, most people think you’ll get more out of the E310 than the 5300 because of its sheer size.

The difference here lies between the jar design – 48 ounce vs 64 ounces. But with regards to other things such as the jar material which is BPA-free Tritan and jar shape, everything between the E310 and 5300 is the same.

What you do need to consider is how much space you have in your kitchen to accommodate a high-powered blender? And how many servings do you plan on making at once to save time and effort?

But if you are looking for an easy to use and quick blender, the lightweight and portable design of the E310 is more compelling. With the added advantage that it’s more affordable than the 5300.

3. Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: Vitamix E310

+Blender Size

The  64-ounce large blender has a wider bottom with 4-inch blades which makes it slightly difficult to clean. The E310 solves these problems with its small 48-ounce container with 3-inch blades.

Both blenders include a tamper and a self-cleaning feature. But sometimes, especially after making thick foods such as nut butter or hummus, you have to get in there to clean the insides of the jar.

Making nut butter in the 5300, for example, gets messy and tricky. You have to use a long brush to gently scrub underneath the wide 4-inch blades. Then use hot water and dish soap and blend it at high speed. Repeat this method 1-3 times to effectively get rid of everything.

Also, the E310 comes with removable blades so no scrubbing is required. You can easily add water and dish soap, blend it all for 30 to 60 seconds, and it looks brand new with no residual odour or stains.

+Dishwasher-Safe

In addition to the removable blades, the E310 features dishwasher-safe parts. The Vitamix 5300 is a regular blender with no dishwasher-safe parts. Though it does have some removable parts that make it easy to rinse under running tap water.

But unlike the E310, you cannot put the container jar in a dishwasher. You need to add extra water inside the jar to clean it. This is a bit disappointing considering that you’re paying the same price for it as a high-end blender with dishwasher-safe parts.

4. Utilities

The Winner: Vitamix 5300

+Warranty

You’ll like the Vitamix 5300 because it has a longer warranty than the E310. So for the cost of the 5300, the warranty is a huge blessing.

On the E310, to get an additional warranty, you will have to pay more. But that’s not the case with the 5300, it comes with a full-fledge 7-year warranty so, really, the E310 doesn’t stand a chance with regards to durability and efficiency.

+Cord Length

Similarly, the Vitamix 5300 also features a longer cord length, 6 feet, when compared to the E310 which comes with a 4.5 feet cord wrap.

Both are thick power cords with storage clips for better accessibility. This makes portability and storage a snap.

But between the Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender vs 5300, the Vitamix 5300 can be kept farther away from an electric outlet without worrying about the length of the power cord.

Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender vs 5300: Similarities

The moment you take a close look at the E310 and 5300, you’ll notice significant similarities between both high-performance blenders for home use.

These similarities include the 10 variable speed settings, BPA-free design, stainless steel blades, the self-cleaning feature, weight, and a Pulse button.

All of which makes both multi-functional and convenient blenders for all types of ingredients. In fact, the variable speeds are so versatile and consistent, that you can use these blenders as food processors as well. For kneading dough, churning butter, blending dry and wet ingredients to make the batter, etc.

The Pulse button allows short bursts of high blending power to get rid of any lumps in your milkshake. It adds the final touches to your blend so you don’t have to open up the lid to make sure everything’s blended. The transparent container also takes care of that.

Additional accessories include a tamper and cookbook. The tamper is useful for pouring, scooping, and making sure that everything inside the blender, including dry nuts and seeds, get blended quickly and smoothly.
