What do you want to use a blender for? Products like the Vitamix E310 vs E320 are hard to find. They work with dry and wet ingredients. And are capable of outperforming any traditional blender for daily healthy recipes and the skilled mixologist! Even a chef-in-training will find it difficult to part with a Vitamix blender.

But which is better?

The Vitamix E310 is more compact and lightweight in container size and weight. So it’s suited for people who want to blend 1 cup of ingredients at a time. While the Vitamix E320 comes in a much larger carafe and a wide base that might get tricky to clean if you’re using a smaller portion.

The difference lies in capacity, not performance, as both blenders have the same 10 variable speed settings, Pulse function, laser-cut stainless steel blades, and a BPA-free carafe. They also have extraordinary design features like a cooling fan and thermal protection system to prolong shelf life.

Vitamix E310 vs E320: Differences

The Vitamix E310 wins 3 – 1 against E320. As a high-performance blender, both the E310 and E320 are fine choices. But the E10 is more user-friendly and easy to maintain. It’s perfect for milkshakes, butter, smoothies, pastes, purees, soups, and lots more.

1. Blending Performance

The Winner: It’s A Tie!

Vitamix E310 Blending Performance

Lots of features determine the blending performance of a high-powered blender. In the case of Vitamix E310 vs E320, both offer a great “blend” of exciting features.  And as most of the features that both blenders offer are similar (see similarities section), you should know this…

+Power

The Vitamix E310 comes with a 2.0 peak motor which is not bad at all for a blender of its capacity and consistency. It’s very efficient. The 2.0 HP is compatible with crushing ice, making smoothies, blending soup from hard ingredients while maintaining a smooth, noise-free, and comfortable environment.

If you’re a cook in training or a mixologist enthusiast who blends ingredients for cooking healthy drinks on a day-to-day basis, the Vitamix E310’s powerful motor speed and stability is worth considering – especially if you blend for one.

Moving on, the E320 motor is 2.2 HP that is 0.2 higher than E310. Does that mean it’s better? Not particularly. Though there is a difference in power rating between both blenders, let’s not forget that the E320 is slightly bigger – it has a 64-ounce container, the E310 has 48-ounce. So the raised power rating is a given.

The power of the E320 is unbelievable. It has variable speed settings. And the Pulse button is fully equipped to turn chunky and hard ingredients into smooth paste-like consistencies. Be it for soup, smoothies, sauces, or pastes – the choice is entirely up to you.

2. Controls / Settings

+Container Size

The Vitamix E310’s container is way more reliable in terms of blending smaller portions than the E320. So in this case, bigger is not always better.

Considering the 48-ounce size container (E310), you can divide the ingredients into 2 cups to blend them in batches. The results will be the same, to achieve that perfect blending consistency and texture that you require.

Let’s say this adds 2-3 minutes to your blending time. No big deal, right?

Furthermore, when you use the Vitamix E320, the wider and deeper container is difficult to clean thoroughly especially after blending smaller portions.

In fact, some users have complained that blending small ingredients in the large 64-ounce is very inconsistent unless you’re okay with scooping up the ingredients after a few pulses until everything gets blended.

Scooping up ingredients after every pulse adds more than 5 minutes to your blending time. That’s not what you want!

Nobody complained about the Vitamix E310 for small or large portions. It’s effective and sturdy for all kinds of use. You can add 1 to 1.5 cups of ingredients in the E310 at a time. In the Vitamix E320, you need at least 2 cups of ingredients (not less) to blend in one go.

3. Cleaning

The Winner: Vitamix E310

As I said, the wider container capacity of the E320 makes it difficult to reach to the base and clean. This is further complicated when you consider the blade size of the blender. The E310 comes with 3-inch blades, stainless steel and is very durable. The E320 features 4-inch blades, stainless steel and is strong as well.

But cleaning under the blades is tricky for the 4-inch blades. While it may be quick and easy to rinse the blender after making smoothies because the blend is liquid so faster to wash away. But what when you make butter?

More importantly, the fibres from the fruit or vegetable get stuck in the blades so it’s hard to get rid of them quickly. Cleaning the pitcher from under the blades may also get messy.

The E310, on the other hand, cleans quickly. Even something like almond butter stains is effortless. Adding warm water with dish soap and a sponge should do the trick.

Vitamix E310 vs E320: Similarities

1. Size

Both blenders measure 11 x 8 x 18 inches and are close to the same weight: E310 weighs 11.5 lbs while E320 weighs 13 lbs. The E320 is slightly heavier because it features a bigger container size.

Speaking of which…

2. Container

Both the 48-ounce and 64-ounce blending carafes of the E310 and E320 are made of BPA-free Tritan which is high-quality plastic. The blades that sit inside the carafe are also made of stainless steel.

The plastic is sturdy and strong. It does not hold on to any odour or stains from blending a variety of ingredients.

3. Variable Speed

Both blenders come with 10 variable speed settings with a Pulse button. The 10 variable speeds let you adjust the blending texture of the blend to achieve thin to thick consistencies. Whether you’re making something as light as watermelon juice or lemonade (without ice) or you’re crushing a cup of ice with frozen pineapple chunks and coconut for a delicious homemade pina colada – the variable speeds are compatible with all.

This brings me to the Pulse function of the Vitamix E310 and E320 which lets you add more power and stability for tough ingredients like beetroot, potatoes, ice cubes, etc.

The Pulse power switch and sturdy motor base work together to ensure that the E310 and E320 cut and blend like a pro.

4. Utilities

The E310 and E320 come with design features that make the performance better. Such as a cooling fan and a thermal protection system that keeps the blades sturdy for longer. No overheating, no noise, and no lagging.

Since the blades are laser-cut stainless hammermill, you don’t have to worry about replacing them. These extra design features ensure that the blades stay effective and consistent every time.

Both also feature the same cord length – 4.5 feet – making it a comfortable appliance for kitchen use. You will also get a tamper to get everything out of the carafe easily. And an owner’s manual in case you want to read a bit more about the performance/maintenance tips.
