Vitamix 7500 vs 780: Differences

The Vitamix 780 wins 3 – 1 against the Vitamix 7500. It’s more upgraded than the 7500 with a touchscreen display, 5 blending modes, and dishwasher-safe parts. The 7500 is simpler but it does come in a more compact profile.

1. Controls / Settings

The Winner: Vitamix 780

Vitamix 780 Controls

+Pre-Programmed Settings

The Vitamix 780 comes with 5 different blending modes, on top of the 10 variable speed functionality. This makes the Vitamix 7500 a classic pick while the 780 is more modern and sleek to use.

These blending modes are for smoothies, frozen desserts, soups, and purees. The last blending mode is not, in fact, a blending mode but a cleaning mode. So it can blend warm water and soap to get rid of any food residue and odor from inside the container. And you can use this as many times as you blend something sticky or creamy in the blender.

The Vitamix 7500 comes with a simple but effective 10-speed variable dial and pulse switch. The versatile speeds are multi-functional enough to take care of blending smoothies, frozen desserts, soup, and other recipes.

But if you’re looking for one-touch controls, the automated program buttons on the 780 is your go-to pick. It makes blending relatively faster because it eliminates the guesswork.

For the plain fact that the Vitamix 780 comes with multiple blending modes and 10 variable speeds makes it more programmable and versatile for daily use.

2. Cleaning & Maintenance

The Winner: It’s a tie

+Size

The Vitamix 7500, even though it is 0.3 inches taller than the 780 blender, it’s quite a compact appliance with a 7.7 inch depth while the 780 measures more – 8.9 inches depth.

This makes the 7500 more portable and convenient to keep on the kitchen counter. While the 780 is relatively more cumbersome and difficult to move.

There is no difference in weight as both blenders weigh 12.5 pounds. They are 64-ounce blenders with a 4-inch blade and a sturdy motor base. The carafe is made of plastic while the exterior is brushed metal with rubber feet.

With everything else being the same, I think you’ll find the Vitamix 7500 more user-friendly and compact for everyday use. And the 780 being bulky for narrow kitchens or tight corners or even to store inside a cabinet when it’s not being used.

+Dishwasher-safe Parts

One more thing that sets the Vitamix 7500 vs 780 apart is the latter comes with dishwasher-safe parts while the former does not.

The 780 comes with a dishwasher-friendly blending container, lid, and blades. And we have an automated cleaning program that you have to simply tap the screen to access. So the blender takes care of itself very well.

On the Vitamix 7500, you are able to add warm water with a few drops of dish soap. Blend the mixture for 45 to 60 seconds on ‘5’ speed. Then you can carry the blender to the kitchen sink and rinse all the parts until it’s shiny and smells fresh.

As you can see, the 780 is faster to clean in a dishwasher because it eliminates the manual hand rinsing process.

3. Utilities

The Winner: Vitamix 780

+Control Panel

The difference here lies in the way you use both blenders. The Vitamix 780 seems to me the kind of blender that is more intuitive. While the Vitamix 7500 is more user-friendly.

‘Intuitive’ because the 780 features a touchscreen display that is wide and has all the features you need at the tap of the screen. It’s an LED touchscreen so it looks fancy and sleek.

The ‘user-friendly’ description of the 7500 is so that it features a rotary dial and switches. It’s direct and works for a very long time.

Even though there’s always the risk of the touchscreen not working after a while. But I’ve seen no such complaints as far as the Vitamix 780 is concerned.

Both blenders are quick and easy to use. But the 780 seems to be doing a better job of programmability with its 5 blending modes, 10 variable speeds, and the Pulse feature all accessible via its touchscreen display.

Vitamix 7500 vs 780: Similarities

1. 10 Variable Speed + Powerful Motor

Vitamix 10 Variable Speeds
Vitamix 10 Variable Speeds

Though the 780 has a few blending modes which the Vitamix 7500 doesn’t, they both offer 10 variable speeds for making a wide variety of recipes quickly and effectively.

Most importantly, the 10 variable speeds help keep blending consistent. You can make the same dish twice without messing it up. Despite having no blending modes, the 7500 can blend smoothies, hot soup, frozen desserts, purees, sauces, salad dressing, and so on.

The Pulse feature (on both blenders) allows coarse chopping of vegetables and fruits. It also allows you to make chunky salsa with vegetables that are not quite 100% pureed.

The 2.2 HP motor lets you smoothly navigate these versatile blending functions easily. And yes, both blenders feature overheating protection with a cooling fan and auto shut-off when the motor gets too hot.

2. Blending Jar

The Vitamix 7500 and 780 also come with low-profile 64-ounce blending jars made of BPA-free plastic (Tritan) for safe and hygienic blending. The inside of the blending jar does not attract odor or stains. Nor does it take up too much space despite being of a large 64-ounce size.

I can say, for certain, that you’ll find both the 7500 and 780’s blender jar more user-friendly and portable to use.

They also feature the same 4-inch stainless steel blades that can crush and chop and blend thick, thin, wet, and dry ingredients within seconds.

3. Utilities

Vitamix 7500 Utilities
Vitamix 7500 Utilities

Both blenders also offer the same utilities/accessories for safekeeping. This includes the 7-year warranty, 6-feet cord length, tamper, and cookbook.

The 7-year warranty covers all the important parts of the blender. And the tamper is a great tool for maintaining a smooth texture of the blend while blending and for also pouring from the jar without spilling on the counter.

The cookbook comes with many interesting blending recipes with the right portions and measurements.
